Active: Fully qualified to practice law and to participate in WSBA affairs such as voting or holding office. Only active members of the Washington State Bar Association, and others as authorized by law, may practice law in Washington.
Inactive: WSBA member in Washington currently not licensed to practice law. No person may be an inactive member whose employment or duties in the State of Washington constitute the practice of law.
Judicial: A full time current or former judge in a court in Washington State may be on judicial status.
Foreign Law Consultant: This status allows a lawyer from a foreign jurisdiction to advise or consult about that jurisdiction's law, but not about Washington law.
Emeritus: This status is a limited license for lawyers otherwise retired from the practice of law to practice on a volunteer basis for an approved legal services provider.
Foreign House Counsel: A limited license for in-house counsel licensed to practice in a foreign jurisdiction, working for a single employer that is not a governmental entity or provider of legal services.
Honorary: Retired 50-year members.
